Two brothers, Douglas and Blegus Tcherani took centre stage on Friday, 6th November, 2015 when they threw kicks and punches karate style in what was deemed the most spectacular episode during the launch of enterprise development grants provided under the Shire River Program (Phase I Project) in GVH Mwenye, TA Phambala (watch video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uPBozTL_6dI). The two say they use martial arts displays to entertain and inspire people, especially the youth to keep fit and exercise discipline in all spheres of life. “In this particular event, our martial arts displays were meant to incentivize project beneficiaries, especially the youth to take corrective action on deforestation, which is a major environmental challenge in this area.
We have great passion for environmental conservation and martial arts is our source of inspiration in that regard”, reported Douglas, a teacher and Climate Change Officer at Matale Primary School in the same Traditional Authority. These displays are a manifestation of good health. Yes, we all know how important it is to be in good health as our health affects everything from how much we enjoy life to what work we can perform as articulated in SDG 3 of the United Nations. So, let’s keep fit and healthy to effectively conserve the environment!
